The AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC range of DISC filters offers multiple combinations to achieve an efficient and economic filtration solution, which can be adapted to various water conditions in the industrial, HVAC, municipal, environmental, agricultural and landscaping markets.
The AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC filtration range is built for high efficiency with low maintenance and absolute safety. The filter uses the patented Azud Helix and Azud Discs to efficiently filter the water. The Helix creates centrifugal action which spins the larger particles away from the discs, and the discs provide a high level of filtration. A determined pressure differential activates an automatic hydraulic backwashing system.

Only a portion of the water is used for backwash in multi element systems.
LARGE FILTRATION SURFACE AREA
The discs are available in Multi-Groove (MG) or Wall type depending on the application they are needed for. The MG discs provide depth filtration resulting in very high efficiency at a given micron level.
The width and support structure of the discs provided high resistance to the pressure differential across the filtration surface.
The superior quality of the injection molding of the discs provides uniformity of the discs which results in high efficiency at the selected micron level.
The Helix is a centrifugal action device on the inlet to the filtering element which forces the inlet water to spin around the discs inside the filter housing, this forces the larger particles away from the discs reducing the accumulation of solids on the filtration surface, thus optimizing the performance of the discs and reducing the frequency of backwashing

MODULAR, VERSATILE, COMPATABLE
The system permits a wide range of configurations with a minimal number of components. Vertical or horizontal design.
AUTOMATIC CLEANING OF FILTER ELEMENTS
Filtration Stage: The Helix generates a centrifugal helical effect upon entry into the filter, this moves the particles away from the discs. The water then passes efficiently through the depth of the uniquely designed discs.
Backwashing Stage: The clean water from the down stream side of the filter elements is introduced from the reverse direction through the backwashing filtering element. This hydraulically decompresses the stack of discs, allowing the discs to separate and backwash efficiently.
The solids are expelled from the discs and evacuated through the backwash manifold.
The filtration process then restarts with the compression of the discs.
The backwash is controlled by two valves and a controller, which integrate the
filtration equipment. The backwash is initiated by pressure differential or time.

The patented design and the materials used in manufacturing the filters guarantee a long life with high resistance.
The maximum operating pressure and temperature of the standard equipment is 145 psi at 140⁰F.
WATER AND ENERGY SAVINGS
Amount of water used during backwashing cycle is significantly less than with other types of automatic cleaning filters. Time between backwashing cycles is increased by the design of the Helix system.
All products go through stringent quality control before leaving the factory.

AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC DLP
This equipment incorporates low pressure filter elements that only require 22 psi to backwash. Even with this low pressure requirement the discs are still efficiently backwashed.
AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC AW (AGGRESSIVE WATER)
This equipment is specifically designed to handle high concentrations of dissolved salts in water. Internal and external components are constructed with compatable materials able to withstand the extreme conditions.
AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC DW (DRINKING WATER)
Equipment is specifically designed for applications where the validation/certification of the filter is required for potable water.
AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC SW (SALINE WATER)
The SW equipment is the same as the the standard equipments, but all the metal components are made to be compatible with salt water. (Very high levels of salt can be handled (Up to 50000 ppm dissolved salts).
AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC CL (HIGH CHLORINE)
This equipment is made to handle high chlorine concentrations (CL). The characteristics of AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC CL equipment are the same as the standard Azud Helix Automatic equipment, but all the components are compatible with high chlorine concentrations.

This equipment allows the use of Disc Filtration in applications where minimal water loss is desired. Incorporating air in the backwash process decreases the amount of water used in the backwash process by about 80%.
AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC HP (HIGH PRESSURE)
This equipment supplies the same filtration quality as the standard disc filter, with the ability of working with pressures from 3-16 bar (45-230 psi). All the manifolds, base, lids, and connection pipes are made of metal. The control unit incorporates a differential pressure gauge and a second pressure gauge controlling the maximum pressure which offers auxiliary protection under working conditions outside of the recommended parameters.
